Animal Care Assistant

There has never been a moment in my life where I have not had pets. I couldn’t imagine life if I were not sharing it with animals, learning their behaviours, discovering their unique personalities, caring for them when they’re sick, and doing my best to keep them healthy.

I grew up raising kittens and bunnies. In high school, I fell in love with reptile and amphibian keeping. I now have geckos, lizards, snakes, salamanders, a tortoise and lots of frogs, along with a bunny, a hamster and a few Siamese cats. I dog-sit for friends and family on occasion. I have volunteered at a zoo, spending time with a lonely, young kangaroo, and at a rescue for abused horses.

Out of all the animals I’ve cared for, frogs are my favourite. There are hundreds of unique species, each with different appearances, voices and behaviours, living in many different habitats, from rivers to trees to deserts, and requiring special care in terrariums. It is a fascinating and exciting challenge to understand how evolution has created such diversity. My Amazon Milk Frog’s first tadpoles hatched in 2021. I can’t wait to see them turn into tiny frogs.

I started working at Park Road Veterinary Clinic in 2020. Along with caring for the animals, I love learning new things, like how to identify ticks, preparing prescriptions and autoclaving. I wake up every day excited to meet new animal friends and to learn new things about how to care for them and keep them healthy.
