Puppies most often get immunity from their mom to protect them for the first few weeks of life. After a while, when that level starts to get unprotective, vaccinations at 8, 12 and 16 weeks ensures that almost all puppies develop long-standing and functional immunity to distemper, hepatitis, rabies and especially parvovirus. Non-core vaccinations such as leptospirosis and Lyme can be started at 12 weeks if warranted. Bordetella can be given as young as 4 weeks of age.

The core vaccines, parvovirus/distemper/hepatitis/parainfluenza and rabies. Non-core vaccinations including Lyme, leptospirosis, bordetella.

Why is it important to properly vaccinate your puppy?

Even the healthiest pup has limited immunity they get from their mom. Vaccinations, at appropriate intervals, ensure that pups have functional immunity to keep them healthy.

What is an appropriate schedule for puppy vaccinations?

We recommend your puppy to be vaccinated at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age.

How should you prepare your puppy for its first vaccination visit?

Some puppies get car sick and most grow out of it, but it may be a good idea not to have your puppy on a full tummy when getting into the car. (We will try, very hard, not to give too many treats!) Otherwise, no special preparation is needed. Please bring all the paperwork you have for your puppy, any medications they may have come with and a list of all your questions!
